We are living in a time of great uncertainty and change. We sincerely hope everyone is staying mentally and physically healthy while navigating the unique social, occupational, and economic circumstances we’re all living in.
Notwithstanding the global pandemic, we’ve been keeping very busy at ProjectControls.online. We launched our new Portfolio Management feature, upgraded our Reports, and made many other performance enhancements to PC.o to accommodate specific requests from our users. Prior to social distancing, we presented at the WCCC Project Controls SUMMIT in January and AACEI Western Winter Workshop in February. And, last but not least we added this Articles section to our PC.o knowledge center. Check out the full update below.
WCCC Project Controls SUMMIT
|In January 2020 we had the honor of being a Platinum Sponsor and Presenter at the Western Council of Construction Consumers’ (WCCC) 6th Annual Project Controls SUMMIT at Caltrans District 7 in Los Angeles, California. The SUMMIT focused on the key project controls principles and issues influencing our ability to effectively meet project cost, time, performance, and value goals. We were delighted to share our experience and mission with ProjectControls.online, creating a practical approach to data management with online tools.|
AACEI Western Region Workshop
In February 2020, and the second year in a row, we were a Platinum Sponsor for the AACEI Western Region Workshop in Indian Wells, California. The conference focused on delivery of major Capital Programs and drew owners, vendors, and subject matter experts from all over the world. LA Metro and LAWA lead key panel discussions.
Knowledge Center | PC.o Articles
We have added an Articles section to our PC.o knowledge center, where we post tutorials, news, and technical whitepapers. These articles, also posted on LinkedIn, have been a great way to engage our community and build some interest in our solutions.
COVID19 Scheduling Series
As we launched our new Articles section of PC.o, the world was beset with the COVID19 pandemic, creating a new set of challenges for our communities, work environments, and construction projects. In response we launched our Articles section with focus on COVID19 Scheduling series, to provide guidance on how to manage project schedules and work disruptions influenced by the pandemic. If you have not yet seen the articles, check out the series through the links below:
In one of our latest Articles, we discussed the potential advantages of the Remote Construction Office. We would really like to hear your thoughts and feedback on the article. If you have some time, give the article a quick read and leave a comment.
To strengthen knowledge sharing and networking we would love to include user profiles and testimonials. Contact us at email@example.com if you would like to showcase how you use PC.o, and join the conversation.
New Feature | Portfolios
Working from home during COVID19 has not slowed us down at ProjectControls.online. We are excited to announce a new major feature: PORTFOLIOS — a space to integrate and summarize all your cost and schedule data and performance measurement, into programs, portfolios, projects, and sub-projects. Portfolios is the true roll-up feature you always wanted in your Enterprise Project System or spreadsheet. It functions as a dynamic enterprise portfolio system that combines the analytics of our CPM Schedule Service with program and project dashboards that summarize key cost and schedule performance indicators, in a nimble, user-specific enterprise project structure. Ta-da! Like magic – you now have all your most relevant data instantly available, online, on mobile, at your fingertips – project, portfolio or program level numbers for your agency or company. Learn more about this powerful new feature by reading our post, or check out our YouTube playlist for step-by-step tutorials.
- Cost Management: One of the exciting aspects of our new Portfolios module is the cost management tool, which allows you to choose to use cost data from your CPM schedules, sync with PROCORE, or manually add/edit at a summary or detailed level. The cost information is dynamic to instantly fit your needs. On-demand cost information is always available for team members and management in the cash flow and earned value analytics and rolled up to your Project and Portfolio summaries. Check out our quick summary for this powerful new feature:
- Procore Integration: Using our Portfolios module, you can now sync with your Procore Cost information. This allows easy cash flow, earned value, and performance reporting and analytics by keeping your costs in one place (Procore) instead of duplicating effort maintaining costs in the schedule. Check out our quick summaries for this powerful new feature:
Upgraded Feature | Reports
Responding to multiple requests, we have developed a Reports section, accessed either from a pull-down menu under Tools or from the “Reports” tab in either the Analysis or Comparison sections of Portfolio Analytics (of an individual project). As much as we love dashboards and raw data to analyze, we know that sometimes it is nice to have a printable report. To meet that need we have created a printable version of our DCMA 14-point Assessment and a Schedule Analysis report featuring an Executive Summary and Technical Details. Soon, we will be rolling out a printable version of our Schedule Comparison analytics.
Other Minor Upgrades
- Trends, Enterprise Cashflow, and Comparisons are now pop-ups, instead of taking you to a new page. This reduces time waiting a new page to load.
- Reports Folder is now a pull-down menu under Tools, and no longer on the menu bar.
- Home page is simplified for those not signed into PC.o.
As always if you come across any issues or concerns with the improvements, or additional recommendations, please do not hesitate to contact us! Thanks to all of those who have provided comments and feedback; your comments drive our design to make ProjectControls.online a better tool for all of you.
If you have any questions, or if you know of an upcoming conference, expo or event and looking to have PC.o do a demonstration or to talk to your team, do not hesitate to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
